Mineralisation:
OREAS 80 was prepared from a blend of nickel sulphide ore materials sourced from the Cosmos and Mt Keith nickel operations in Western Australia. These materials are representative of komatiite-hosted nickel sulphide mineralisation, characterised by disseminated to massive sulphide assemblages dominated by pyrrhotite, pentlandite and chalcopyrite within ultramafic host rocks. To achieve the targeted multi-element composition, the primary nickel sulphide materials were blended with barren gabbronorite from Black Hill Quarry, South Australia, and a minor addition of PGE- and Cr-rich UG2 reef material from the Bushveld Complex, South Africa. OREAS 80 has been characterized using the following methods:
Certified values for applicable analytes are operationally defined for each method, with results under OREAS ISO 17034 scope of accreditation.
